everyday. More importantly, his co-workers enjoyed seeing Scott’s bright, smiling face every morning. But he wanted more. He had abilities that allowed him to work outside a sheltered workshop setting. So when the custodian’s job came open at Ottawa County’s healthcare center, we just knew it was a perfect fit for Scott. After the initial assessment and interview, Scott was ready to start work. “Can I start today?” he asked. Mike, a job coach, worked with Scott from day one, teaching him everything he needed to know to succeed, on his OWN. After some trial-and-error, Scott was ready. He worked his first shift without Mike. And although we miss that bright, smiling face, we are so glad to know that the residents at the nursing home get to enjoy him too! And he’s doing a great job. “He works hard, likes his job, is never late, never misses a day. I wish everyone was like Scott!,” says Robin Pfeiffer, HR Coordinator for Riverview Healthcare Campus.
