Thomas G. wanted to find a job in the community. With help from the RVI Community Employment Program, he was not only able to find “a job” – he was able to find what for him is a “dream job.”Thomas told his Service and Support Administrator at the Ottawa County Board of Developmental Disabilities about his wish to work. Once that desire became part of his Individual Service Plan, the staff in the RVI Community Employment Program helped Thomas define exactly what he wanted in a job. His received guidance through the job search, application and interview process. Now he is employed at the Kroger grocery store in Fremont.

Thomas has recently purchased a new car, and he is considering buying a home! Many adults who have developmental disabilities have found fulfilling work in the community with the help of the RVI Community Employment Program. Their employers see the value of their contributions, and are happy to continue in relationships that work well for everyone involved.
