Giving Back, One Bag at a Time
At RVI, we believe everyone has something to give—and that includes the individuals we serve every day. That’s why we’re proud to launch The Kindness Project, a new initiative that empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to give back to their community by assembling and donating care packages for local nonprofit organizations.
A Program With Purpose
The Kindness Project was designed to create meaningful ways for all individuals we support to participate in community life and service. By building and donating useful care packages, participants are making a direct impact—while also developing employment-related skills in a supportive environment.
How It Works
- RVI collects donated items to be included in care packages.
- Individuals take part in every step—sorting, folding, labeling, packaging, and organizing.
- Assembled packages are delivered to nonprofit partners who share our vision of care and inclusion.
TYPES OF CARE PACKAGES:
My Overnight Bag – For children spending a night away from home. Includes:
- Drawstring bag
- Pajamas
- Socks
- Small toy or blanket
- Storybook
Seniors Rule – For older adults in need of comfort and connection. Includes:
- Lap blanket
- Puzzle or crossword book
- Snack and tea/coffee
- Local event calendar
- Contact info for transportation and social events
4 Seasons – Seasonal clothing packs. Includes:
- Clothing and shoes for winter, spring, summer, or fall
Furry Family Member – Because pets matter too. Includes:
- Treats
- Blanket
- Toy
